Another day in Costa Rica
The early morning light peers through the trees, between the leaves
The ctenosaurs are wildly thrashing,
As the rain continues to fall, on one and all.
And one would think that life would continue on this way, day by day.
But out upon the Roca Blanca,
The diesel tractors and bull dozers begin to work again.
And in the trees sit howling monkeys,
Who watch the trees of the forest hit the ground, all around.
And no one seems to care as their forest is stripped away, day by day.
(Chorus)
Oh, can’t you hear them calling.
Crying out into the sun.
The precious forest around them falling.
The howling monkeys on the run.
Bit by bit, the men are working,
Stripping out the heart of the earth, “A New Birth.”
They’re making way for another canal
And giving ranchers cattle another place in which to graze.
But once again man ignores all the warning signs he sees in the trees.
The howling monkeys call out strongly.
They seem to be protesting all the harm, that man has done.
But on and on the men keep working.
As the monkeys how into the sky with all their might.
And the tractors continue to destroy our source of air, without a care.

In a bedroom there lies a man awaitin’
A tear suspended from his eye
